“There is no need to go to India or anywhere else to find peace.
You will find that deep place of silence right in your room,
your garden or even your bathtub” Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

All about Thermowood the wood used in building these Beautiful Scandinavian Wooden Hot Tubs

ThermoWood, also known as kiln-dried wood, is made from Finnish wood using a Finnish patented heat treatment process. During the process, the wood mass is aged to give it the same qualities found in 100-year-old trees.

Features compared to untreated wood:
Wood becomes darker
Risk of mould formations is radically reduced
Insulation capacity improved by 30%
Resin seepage is eliminated
Material is lighter but is more durable
Kiln-dried wood is coloured all the way through
Moisture content is reduced 30-90%
Environmentally-friendly material without additives
Minimal maintenance, oil treated once a year
Weather resistant
ThermoWood is very durable and stable.

Different wood types are divided into 5 classifications, according to durability. ThermoWood is a class 2 wood, together with cedar and oak, for example. There are different kinds of heat treatment processes depending on how the wood will be used.

It is important to choose the right process. The process we use gives the material a quality that allows it to come into permanent contact with water as well as the weather and wind.

In addition to its extraordinary durability features, ThermoWood also has a colour that is more like "exotic" woods. Depending on the heat treatment process used, the colour of the wood will vary from light brownish to darker shades.

ThermoWood is more expensive than spruce, but the great advantage is that it is a high quality product that is virtually maintenance free. For aesthetics, we recommend a simple oil treatment once a year.
